2minutes on AI: SHOULD IT BE DEVELOPED??

Francis Baker once said, that "Knowledge Is Power". That was about 400 years ago. But is knowledge still power? I say yes. And through sharing of such knowledge we have become so powerful and developed powerful machines. One of the recent breakthroughs is AI. It is a program that learns by different means, remembers it, and uses it the next time at performs a task; much like experience of humans. Development of AI is very necessary for human kind. If we are to further develop or at least maintain the current standard of living, we need development of artificial intelligence. Simply think of a software which does not need to be updated, it runs by itself and with time, works better.

Now many people disregard the development of artificial intelligence, posing it as an eventual threat to humankind and its existence.

The statement is simply foundation less. AI does not hinder human's cognitive abilities, instead it invites more and more people for competitive abilities. Most students these days pursue studies in AI, the number being more than 50% of mechanical engineering students in the whole world. And for those who think for the future, there are always new fields popping up for studies, the latest being quantum computing.

Now, many people say unemployment as an issue of developing AI, but, AI does not make people lose jobs, it just changes the kinds of job people pursue. If machines do the factory work, people are always required to maintain, repair and develop those machines.
We all know that development of AI will eventually lead to development in every field, from automation to manufacturing to education. Thus, if the quality of education rises need for unskilled labour decreases and skilled labour increases. This moves as a chain benefitting the developing AI.

Now for the cost concerned people, it is known that nothing new has ever come cheap. And AI is no exception.
Even the Industrial Revolution came with its economic, ecological and emotional prices. It is eventual that it may come at a high price. Though people are trying to reduce initial cost of development for all kinds of AI.

The world is already aware of this diamond mine benefit. AI is used everywhere, from the post you view on Facebook to security in banking and even personal assistants like Cortana and Siri. Many companies have invested heavily in AI and have received the outcome in form of sustained and increased growth. The Indian government had a allocated $480 million in budget 2018 for development of AI. And even the Central Board of Secondary Education has started to inculcate studies of AI separately for all classes.

Eventually , we come to the point of extinction of human race through some AI, nuclear or biological anomaly. But then there are International Laws that say that such weapons can only be launched analoguosly. The US and other democracies of the world are forming international treaties to jointly ban artificial intelligence to use nuclear weapons, because, you know...

                               "अती सर्वत्र वर्जयेत"

Now coming to a conclusion, do you know the difference between a bureaucrat and politician? A bureaucrat is government machinery, designated only to give suggestions, which is then enacted by the politician.

Thus, the difference between intelligent and smart, the difference between a bureaucrat and a politician should be the difference between AI and us.
There is always a right time to make someone or something responsible.

AN ESSAY - My Most Memorable Railway Journey

Railways are the nation’s favorite long-distance commuter. It is very affordable and I have been traveling by train from time immemorial. Railways have always felt welcome. My most memorable journey was along a route I travel very often. The Anuppur-Ambikapur route has some really obscure railway stations of Chhattisgarh. I was travelling to my grandparents’ place. What made this journey memorable was its timing. We usually travelled at night. But this time, it was a day run. The journey was simply amazing. The route cuts through hilly areas. With numerous tunnels, bridges and a little brook here and there, the journey was a feast for my eyes. The stations and the people were a completely different story. Ever heard of a junction that doesn’t sell tickets, visit Boridand. Or a station that provides tickets on small yellow hard-paper cards, visit Nagpur Rd. The Chhattisgarhi people are quiet, but you feel the hidden energy in them when you approach a station. The language they speak

2minutes speech on TEACHER'S DAY 2020

The mere fact that we are all connected  in this event makes me feel so elated and motivated to express my thoughts on this unconventional  yet eventful day today. Good Morning and a very happy Teacher's Day to all.                           A teacher is someone who teaches, and mind you, it is not just academics. Not everyone can be a teacher, because despite everything what a teacher teaches first is the way of life.               Though teachers day is globally celebrated on 5th October, in India we celebrate it on 5th of September, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. S Radhakrishnan , the second president of Republic of india and a profound teacher himself. He believed that "children are the future of the nation and it is only in the teachers hands that could shape it".                                     It is well said that "Adversity shows one's potential". These crucial times had their unique problems. We had to change our methods, increase
